Prodigy – Week1

So every now and then Oprah had a show focused on children with extraordinary talents. You will see a four year old kid playing Beethoven with his feet, or a twelve year old that finished high school quicker than a Kim Kardashian marriage. She would have these child prodigies in her studio to show them off to the world.

If God had a T.V. show like Oprah, YOU would be on it!

There is a prodigy inside of you! Now before you think it’s something like a kidney stone, here is a definition of the word “prodigy”.

  1. A person with exceptional talents or powers:
  2. a person, esp a child, of unusual or marvellous talents
  3. anything that is a cause of wonder and amazement
  4. something monstrous or abnormal
In Exodus 31:1-5 we find a construction worker called Bezalel. God appoints him to build the tabernacle, the house of God. Now that is a pretty good contract to get! But notice that God didn’t choose Bezalel because he was filled with the spirit of God, but God chose him and THEN filled Bezalel with His spirit. God doesn’t need you to be perfect before He chooses to use you, He has already called you and He will equip you with everything you need, all God needs is a willing heart. This is the first time the Bible mentions someone being “filled with the spirit”, and it’s not a priest, king or a pharisee but a construction worker! God instantly made Bezalel a prodigy…
The essence of our prodigy’ness lies in Colossians 1:27. (read it!)
Christ in you!!! Do have any idea what that implies? You were created in the image of the ultimate prodigy, Jesus!! Every piece of authority and power Jesus had is in you. Jesus was not so much an example FOR man, He was an example OF man.
Society celebrates only certain prodigies, positions and talents. But God celebrates you as a prodigy. You can be a prodigy mom, prodigy student, prodigy teacher… or like Bezalel, a prodigy construction worker. Doing what God called you to do and doing it with excelence keeping one thing in mind:
The prodigy in you is not FOR you! 1 Pet 4:10
God has made you a prodigy to serve others and to change people’s lives. God’s made the call and, congratulations your on His show!!
