Brother From Not Such a Different Mother

Lets play a game, can you guess what I’m talking about, here’s a few clues: Without this substance CSI Miami will be rendered useless. Without this substance you will be as unique as a red speedo on the set of Baywatch. In essence this substance is what makes you who you are. This substance might be the only link you have to your family. I’m talking about “Deoxyribonucleic Acid” (15 points if you know what that is….) it is what we call DNA!!

But whose DNA are we really carrying?

We can so easily walk in ignorance of our identity. In john 1:1-4 we already find an overriding principle to engage our true identity.

The ultimate question for all humanity is still the same: ” Adam where are you?” This is not a geographical but rather a positional statement. Through Christ that question has been answered and we can now answer “WE ARE IN CHRIST”. We were restored to our former position and we can now live in fellowship with the Father. In fact we carry the same DNA as Jesus, we are from the same family, origin, stock as Jesus. Hebrews 2:10-11 makes it clear.

10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[a]

Jesus wasn’t an example for man, but an example of man. We are His brothers and sisters and His not even ashamed to proclaim that to the world. Nothing you can do change your position in Christ and God will NEVER be ashamed of you. You carry His DNA and that is what defines you…
